Teaching as a Profession (TAP)

Teaching is a dynamic profession that requires a combination of knowledge, interpersonal skills, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Teachers play a vital role in the development and well-being of individuals and societies, making it a profession with deep significance in shaping our community. The Teaching As a Profession program is designed for students interested in becoming an educator. Students are provided with the knowledge and skills related to the components of instruction, teaching strategies, assessments, student learning, special populations, educational technology, classroom management, lesson planning, professional ethics.

A learning support professional is an individual who works in educational settings to provide assistance, guidance, and support to students, teachers, and educational institutions. Learning Support Professionals play a crucial role in creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment. They collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to address the diverse needs of students and contribute to their overall success in school. The Learning Support Professionals program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed for occupations that support everyday K-12 school learning environments, such as school counselors. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in professional ethics, communication skills, school counseling models, and counseling approaches across ages and grade spans.
