Networking Pathway Map to Employment

Computer networking programs in high school and college prepare individuals for various careers levels in the information technology (IT) industry in careers such as, but not limited to, computer and information systems managers, computer network architects, computer systems analysts, network administrators, and network engineers. The map below details the various educational pathways available in Hawai‘i from high school through college to IT jobs in Hawai‘i.

The Breakdown of the Map

Starting in a Networking program of study in high school, there are three general educational pathways available. Most careers in the IT industry require some postsecondary education or training; however, there are a number of entry level positions within the IT industry that a person can obtain with only a high school education.

  • Community College Track (2+ Years)
  • University Track (4+ Years)
  • Training Programs (< 1-Year)

Admissions Requirement: As you navigate the map, be sure to read the admission requirements for the Community College and University Track Programs. You must meet admissions requirements to enroll in these programs.
